Midwest Woodworking Sale 8/23, 25% off Lumber, 40% off Veneer
Approximately one year ago, I helped arrange what I thought would be the last lumber sale open to the public at Midwest Woodworking in Cincinnati, OH. Since Frank David’s passing (the owner of Midwest Woodworking), they’ve occasionally opened their doors to move their vast inventory of both domestic and exotic hardwoods that had been amassed over nearly 60 years.
Anyone who follows my blog, or Chris Schwarz blog, or has taken any of his classes locally, can attest to what can be found there. While many of the widest boards of Honduran Mahogany have been picked over, there are still literally 1,000’s of board feet remaining at widths up to 24″. Sugar Pine, Walnut, giant slabs of Makore (now available by the individual board, rather than the whole boule) and even a generous supply of pre-embargo Brazilian Rosewood are still sitting in their warehouse.
It’s woodworkers like ourselves who should take note of the opportunity and act. Purchase lumber or veneer for that project you’ve got planned now or in the future. Help support a family who has inherited a one-of-a-kind collection that is destined to go to auction in bulk or worse, go up in flames. The material list for both available hardwoods as well as veneers is by no means complete, but representative of what’s available. I’m also convinced that there is lumber that even Frank David forgot about.
All lumber prices listed below will be discounted 25% at check out (Cash and Check only). Large volume discounts are also available for large orders. This will be up to you to negotiate prior to check out. I’d also suggest bringing some help to lift things and return things the way you found them, and be prepared to be patient. I’m also posting a price list for each below for your reference. If anyone has any questions, just email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org Hope to see everyone there! – Andy
